Getting started
- Open Persimmon on your iPhone and tap + to find your course — search the directory, browse nearby, or build it from OpenStreetMap by name.
- Your course syncs to the watch automatically. On the watch, pick it and start your round from the first tee.
- That's it. The big number is your live GPS distance to the middle of the green; holes advance on their own as you walk to the next tee.
Widgets
Watch complication
Add "Distance to Green" to your watch face (long-press the face → edit → choose a complication slot). It shows your live yardage during a round and returns to idle when the round ends.
iPhone Lock Screen widget
Add the Persimmon widget to your Lock Screen (long-press the Lock Screen → Customize). It shows the last-known yardage from your live round and tells you when it's out of date.
Common questions
My course isn't on the watch
Open Persimmon on the iPhone — the library pushes to the watch automatically. Keep both apps open for a minute if it's the first sync. Long-press a course on iPhone to set it as the default the watch pre-selects.
The complication shows "—"
It's idle — it shows a number only during an active round with a GPS fix. Start a round on the watch and give it a moment outdoors.
The hole didn't advance
Auto-advance fires as you approach the next tee after reaching the green. If it's ever wrong, long-press the watch screen for the hole menu — and please tell us which hole, we tune this constantly.
How accurate are the yardages?
The big number is the straight-line GPS distance to the green's center — honest and measured, not modeled. Elevation, temperature, and wind appear as separate references so you can factor them by feel.
Official courses
What does the gold "Official" badge mean?
The course was mapped hole by hole by the Persimmon team — greens, fairways, bunkers, water and tree lines. Other courses are built from OpenStreetMap or shared by golfers. Want yours mapped? Email us the course name.
Something on a course is wrong
On the hole screen, use the menu to fix a tee, a green or a par from where you're standing. To report a course that shouldn't be in the directory, email us its name and we'll remove it.
Your account
Do I need one?
No. Every yardage feature works without signing in. Signing in is only for sending your rounds to Shot Pattern on porchcast.co and for publishing course corrections.
Deleting your account and data
In the app, open Profile → Shot Pattern and choose Delete account. It removes the account and every round stored with it on porchcast.co; rounds on your phone stay. You can also email us from the address you signed in with.
